Player of the Week: Lord Bight 4

Klouwe: Hello lord bight 4, duke of LoD! Since TITE merged into LoD, LoD became a big major power in this world. Has this effected your style of leading the tribe?

Lord Bight 4: In LoD we have always had a democratic system of leadership. We have several dukes and barons who govern the tribe along with an internal group of members of council voting on key issues. This has never changed and has always been the way the tribes I have led have been run. LoD has evolved into a collection of like-minded members from various tribes over these past 3 years. When TITE came on board, the first thing that occurred was council positions for the ex TITE leadership. The result was a sharing of ideas to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses as witnessed by both tribes during its long war. These and other members from the Southern areas have become a pillar to the LoD leadership and have been instrumental in helping LoD to maintain its expansion plan. So in truth nothing has changed in the style of leadership except that now we have an even larger wealth of leaders to help steer LoD along its path

Klouwe: If you check maps, then you can see that LoD has very few borders with RASP compared to jotad, ATTERO, Z. Do you think that LoD still has an important role in the war RASP vs Union?

Lord Bight 4: LoD does have a limited front. But as in all previous wars, our members are moving north according to a gameplan. Each member has a role in the tribe. The difficulty in this latest battle is the distance that RASP’s “core” members are from our southern roots. After decimating RASPs outpost villags in the south we suddenly found no red dots on the map. If you look at the map you will notice a steady stream of LoD villages moving and expanding north. It takes time to establish a sizeable front and each time we did, the member of RASP or ex-RASP deleted or left RASP. The one point I will make here is that the map doesnt tell you the attacks sent or the support troops sent from our South to either LoD controlled villages or allied controlled villages in the northern areas.

Klouwe: Some players say that a duke has to put more time into his tribe than into his own account in order to keep the tribe growing. Others say that the duke certainly must play his account properly cause the duke represents the whole tribe. Which view do you favour?

Lord Bight 4: I try to find a balance in both styles. As we all know too well, sometimes things happen in life unexpectedly to ourselves or our tribesmates. As such I have spent alot of time looking after accounts of members who fall into this category. A birth of a child, the death of a loved one, the loss of internet – the list is endless. I also believe that a duke should help create a warm caring environment so that at the end of the day it is not how many villages your tribe nobles in a day rather than TW being a fun place for likeminded members to spend some time relaxing after a hard day at work, or school and getting to know each other. I have already made several life friends who after my time of TW has ended I will keep in contact with. If nothing else that makes my TW experience all the better and worthwhile.

Klouwe: LoD has been ATTERO’s extended family for ages. Now LoDs family got more players than ATTEROs family. The main LoD tribe got more villages than the main ATTERO tribe. And in total LoDs family got 300 million points which is 20% of the world. Is the “extended family” thing still valid (meaning LoD is still a “subsidiary” of ATTERO) or is it better to speak about 2 separated families with a healthy alliance?

Lord Bight 4: The extended family only was formalized around October so I wouldnt say for Ages and it just made logistical sense. While we have had a pretty good relationship with Attero, we still are and have been LoD and they are Attero. We have shared common interests and as such have worked very well with each other ever since the war ended with SFV. The irony of this is that at one time some members of Lod warred SFV during their Gilead times. In fact my good friend Maypop and I were bitter rivals at one time much like Ferdevil or PWAV and I can remember a discussion or two with Aristice that was not the most pleasant(right Logan). Yet Today I like to think that they, along with other former `enemies`, have grown into good friends between our tribes. The shared forums have been a very helpful tool to foster the relationships between our 2 families.

Klouwe: If you could travel right now for free to one place, where would you go?

Lord Bight 4: Wow that is such a tough question. As a science teacher I have always wanted to see the Great Barrier Reef or the Amazon rainforest. As a lover of history I would love to see the great pyramids of Egypt or the ruins of Ancient Greece. I would also like to travel to Europe to travel the routes taken by allied troops years ago so I could pay hommage to their sacrifices. But assuming that time travel is out of bounds, the place I would love to visit or go would have to be my own great country of Canada. I would love to start on one coast and spend one year traveling from location to location until I ended up at Vancouver. If time travel isnt out of the question then anywhere back in medieval times with a case of bic lighters and a couple grenades.

Klouwe: Thanks for the interview and good luck with LoD!
