We Are The Sexy Robots

February 27, 2012 in Uncategorized, World 050 News, World News, Worlds 41-50 News

ODA has long had the reputation of being egomaniac, robotic machines from the moment that Lakewind first left SchOol and created ODA.  Is what we perceive ODA to be the real ODA? Is there more to ODA than meets the eye?  Does ODA have their own kryptonite? What kind of leader is lakewind really?

Everyone who reads the externals, checks rankings or obsesses over stats knows the tribe name ODA. Many of us have formed our opinion of the number 1 tribe either by their rank or by what they read in the externals but as usual I wanted to see what lies beneath the well known image of ODA. Could they really just be robots???

ODA does have some of the best stats around, from being the number 1 tribe with the number 1 player leading them.  ODA currently has 3 out of the 5 top rankings. On the  oda ranking they have 8 out of the top 10 rankings. They also pride themselves on keeping barb nobling to a minuium.

Organised Destructive Aggression's oda for the last week

I believe many people assume Lakewind and the other members of ODA to be extremely cocky, even myself, at one point, thought ODA members were very conceited.  Once I took the time to get to know some of the personalities behind the accounts I found out how wrong I was. These guys and gals may seem to be swaggering on the externals but they also have big hearts, insecurities and great sense of humors. Below are some insights to some of the ODA personalities….

AJV1:

I would say within ODA the members that keep people entertained are the likes of wang1in, Rizzla, boricuapower. The banter between certain members is great here but these 3 do make me laugh. Then you have members I like to refer to as strict teachers you don’t wanna piss off. Debbie, Matt, KingKev, Olly1234 all great people and good to talk too. But I feel like theres an invisible line that if I cross it I’m going to get catted. (Tend not to make fun of them too much apart from Matt and his shocking football team).

Mavfan:

Most of the people are helpful, kind and very active. Everyone here was a Duke at one time or another. They recruit the best they can. Great people, it’s hard to see that side when we are fighting you, because we take care of our own.. . IWe even get on the old X Box 3600 and play a few games ourselves. Once your in ODA your family.

Sweetmisery: We can talk the talk, and walk the walk.

Everyone knows Lakewind or Subwind as he goes by in the externals. We all know he is ranked number 1 in points and in oda. We also know he leads the number 1 tribe but through this interview below I hope you all will take the time to see a different side of Lakewind, his humor, his worries, his kindness and much more.  If you see him how I do you will see that he may be a machine on the battlefield but he also has a big heart,  a heart that cares and can be hurt just like the rest of us do. Also you will get to hear his story and his ideas and thoughts on how world 50 has developed. Lakewind interview…….

Jen :

Have you and your co been on Lakewind from the beginning?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

No.. We started the world on two accounts.. I was LakeWind.. Andy was OldFatElvis. I was in the top 100, he was getting battered, so we decided to play my account..

Jen :

How did you pick your name?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

W40, where I started.. I was Subwind. I had a friend called Lake.. We went to co-play, it became LakeWind.. He didn’t play.. So, the name stuck.. I would like to go back to Subwind, but the name seems stuck to me now..

Jen :

How did you end up in School?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Started the world on my own. I started out near some friends who where in Cheeky/ENVY.. As the world went on, everyone joined SchOol, so I did.. Then they all left, but I was there by then..

Jen :

What happened to make school collapse?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Inactive players that refused to help.. When 1984 declared, then asked for support and nuke counts.. Some players with over 1000 villages offered only 100 to help.. Backline players, under no threat.. Plus, the whole war came about over an argument over 12 barbs.. And then the SchOol council refused to get on with 1984.. But, it was SchOol members who caused the issue..

Jen :

How did they cause the issue?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Nobling barbs inside someone else’s cluster miles away from war.

Jen :

So that is why 1984 declared on school then?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

No, that was ages before.. Then the SchOol council didn’t allow it ever to lie down.. And then, some council members sent out mails telling SchOol to prepare to hit 1984..

Jen :

Which made it back to 1984. Do you think 1984 were right to declare on school at that time?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Yes, in my opinion, SchOol were leading them on to prepare to turn on them.. I did not agree..

Jen :

So that is the reason or part of the reason you decided to create ODA and not fight 1984?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

I was already planning on leaving SchOol.. 1984 Just got there before I left.. But, it was because they knew SchOol were gonna hit them first, so, they took the initiative..

Jen :

Were you in council at school?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

I was.. I stepped down after I could see they clearly were not listening to anything I said..

Jen :

How did you transition to being the leader of ODA after leaving school?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

I never had any intention of leading. I just wanted a tribe of friends that could work together. I still don’t see myself as a leader. Just a planner and organizer.

Jen :

Everyone in that tribe looks up to you as a leader, even others that aren’t in your tribe, how do you feel in general about being looked up to as a leader on this world?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Of course, it is a great feeling. Everyone likes to be looked up to.

Jen :

Do you feel any responsibility with this?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

I just hope that people who have got to know me have come to find me as just another person. Also, a lot of people forget, Andy is here too. Although he doesn’t chat on Skype, he does just as much as myself. I do feel a responsibility, and I have no problem with helping anyone to learn, even the enemy. We all learn from someone.

Jen :

That brings me to your image, many see you as kindhearted and a warrior with honor but you also have an image of being an egomaniac how do you feel about this?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

It’s human nature to read the front cover before reading the content. Of course people see the image of a #1 account and those players must be arrogant, have no lives, be up themselves.. People who read the pages, change their view.

Jen :

Do you ever take the flaming personal?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Yes. Which is why sometimes I react wrong. If people have taken the time to know me, then make that opinion, that is fair game. If people make their opinion before knowing me, I bite. The only thing worse is people insulting Hayden or my intelligence.

Jen :

Back to ODA, how do you feel about where ODA is right now?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

As a tag, we are in the right place, we are #1. We have inactivity issues, everyone does. We also have found some people not quite up to the job, but, wars show this. Which is why a lot of people change members after a war. You find who are the weak and you recruit the strong.

Jen :

How do you plan on dealing with the inactivity issue?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

I will not remove accounts during a war. Anyone can turn it around. After the war, we’ll see. We will decide as a tribe.

Jen :

How do you feel the war with Hermit is going?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

We are winning by a couple of thousand now, so, going well..

Jen :

Do you feel Hermit has any chance of turning it around?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Hermit started well.. But, from my view, they had no plan after HOT sheep was eaten.. It seemed like they hoped we would disband after going 500 behind.. This was never going to be a fast war, so we had already accepted many heavy losses.. I actually thought they would be further ahead.. As for turning it around, it’s like football (soccer for you Americans). If you take an early lead then sit back to defend, you will end up behind.. And, once behind, it’s hard to turn it around.

Jen :

What are your thoughts on the other tribes in the top 5?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

3 – 1984. A very tight group of players, been together a while. They have some good players, and, like any tribe, some personalities.. 4 – BOTBS. Again, a group of players that have been together a long time, through many tribes. Looking for somewhere to settle and be able to work.. 5 – -SOL-. Not really 100%, they are west, and growing okay. Seem to be a lot of players that have moved onto those accounts, and/or through many tribes..

Jen :

How would you describe the people who make up the accounts in ODA right now?.

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Friends.. Some I have been with on many worlds.. Deb I was with on W25, without knowing her though. Kev I was with on W40. Everyone gets on well, and, for the most part, is working well as part of the machine. Some cogs need regular oil though, as with any machine.

Jen :

Lets talk about some of the exact personalities in ODA, like who is the biggest joker?.

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Hmmmm. Aaron, who plays Twin Juggernaut when he is around.

Jen :

Who is most machine like in your tribe?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Andy, my co.. No competition.. When he farms, we get the awards..

Jen :

Who is the biggest goof off?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

That’s a bit hard to judge. People have real lives, and they do get busy.. If I am thinking, someone who is online but just doesn’t bother. Probably me, I get very lazy at times and just not bothered.

Jen :

I mean silly not so much dedication toward the game, let me reask it.

Who is the funniest member?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Me :D.

Jen :

Who makes you laugh the most?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Aaron..

Jen :

Tell me a funny moment in ODA.

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Funnier than when my nuke script locked and I sent 712 nukes to a fake target?.

Jen :

Lol, who did those land on?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Yekno. I mean, it was like 112 fields from the nearest ODA.. No reason to nuke it.. They all died :D.

Jen :

Ah I remember that.

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Which was good, was quicker to rebuild than to return..

Jen :

Tell me about your past TribalWars experience?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

I started on W18 I think, a friend posted on Facebook he was playing a new game. Joined his tribe, they sucked. So I quit. W25 was starting so I joined that world. I got into the top #5 before a holiday. Returned with a baby on the world so quit. Got called back by Todd Lake to co-play with him in iBan on W40. I think the LakeWind account is the only iBan account left on W40. Not played by me anymore. It was a church world, and I was #4 I think when W50 started. W50 was speed 2, no morale, no church. W40 had become slow, boring and surrounded by turtles. So, I left my account there to play W50. And, I think we have covered W50.

Jen :

Actually I thought of another question, there was a rumor that astronomy was co playing you is that true or false?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Lol. I have heard that. Just me and Andy. I have co-played on other worlds with people. Miggy and I ripped through the first speed 4 HP world. He did all the work. We were like 8 million ahead when that account ended. W38 I am helping Simon’s tribe at the moment. Stalemate really on that world. I have had a few other failed worlds. It’s hard when you don’t find the right co-player, and you don’t play weekends. Weekends are for Hayden.

Jen :

How do you see this world ending?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

No tribe in it’s current state will win.

Whoever wins will be an alliance or combination of the most active players left.. And, I will be in it.. :D.

Jen :

Could you describe your playing style?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Very aggressive.. Our view is, if you are attacking, they cannot attack better. Everyone has their own style. Our is, attack the closest threats until they cannot threaten. And, always try to find a way to surprise the enemy. If you fail in an op, do not be down. Learn, and change to better.

Jen :

What has been your toughest battle on this world?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Thirdstrike, but, he was heavily stacked. Stacks are always harder to break than to make. Ome jan, former K45 player.. He was like 99% D. First attempt failed.. So, we waited, made nobles right inside him, mass nuked and nobled faster than he could tag. When attacking him, we got the #1 ODA slot. At the same time he got the #1 ODD slot. So, we actually influenced both positions.. He was a worse barb muncher than anyone on this world. We nobled villages and he had his D nobling barbs while we nobled it.. Rather than defending.

Jen :

Everyone seems to have a different policy on barb nobling, what is yours?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

23 Barbs since the world started, all were players on launch. We try not to.. There are times when they can be useful. We have always found players nearer to noble. We have jumped into like 17 continents to find war, all have been player taken clusters.

Jen :

At what times are they useful in your opinion?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

If a player has 0 frontline and the enemy can defend. Also, these “death stars” that have appeared, they would be an amazing tactic if you could clear the landing area, and take 10 – 15 in the first wave, all stacked high.. Remember about death stars, the empire lost…..

Jen :

What has surprised you the most about this world?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

How much some people can truly hate others, people they do not know apart from behind a keyboard. But, it’s a game, we are all real people in real life, and not who we portray on Skype or in the game. I just wish everyone could get along, and war with a smile. It’s a game, when the browser shuts, it’s gone.

That’s the thing about typed words, everyone reads it in a different way.. There is no emotion to read in text.

Jen :

Well your right and wrong in my opinion, no doubt the person behind the words is writing with emotion and no doubt the person reading it is going to read emotion into things, now they might not get the correct or intended emotion but no doubt emotion is expressed with text all the time.

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

There is one thing that does make me smile on this world..

Jen :

Oh what is that?.

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

Since being #1, the amount of mails from random players saying things like “Loser, #1, bet you can’t attack me, you got no life”. And, random attacks sent for no reason by single village players. I reckon we have killed over 1000 nobles that people have sent for no reason other than to send a noble at us.  We have killed 3507 nobles on this world. Honestly, I bet 1000 of them were sent for no reason other than to say they sent a noble at the #1 player, lol.

Jen :

Funny. Any particular stat you would like me to share in this blog, matt?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

If you took every living being on the planet and made them into a giant ball, 75% would be ants. Ants are 75% of the worlds living population, you cannot compete with that.

Jen :

I didn’t know that.

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

I am full of useless crap like that.

Jen :

Lol, well it wasn’t what I expected when I asked about stats.

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

It’s always good to end with something random. Tribal Wars is a game not just of axes, it is a game of minds and words.

Jen :

Yep very true. Anything else before we end?

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

I would also like to point this out..

Jen :

Yes?.

Matt (ODA – LakeWind):

I would be more than willing to share any tips or tactics with anyone who wants to learn. No matter their rank or tribe. All players in Hermit, any insults, taunts or such are just the PnP of the game. I mean no harm in it. I hope you do not take it away from the browser.

Last but not least, there is also the war between ODA and Hermit, which 1984 joined in but ODA didn’t need any help, not even when they were being battered by major losses on the hottsheep account. ODA stuck through a war in which at one point all looked lost. Lakewind did not give, nor did he allow his mates to give up. Somehow he managed to motivate them not only to not give up but to push on and to take over the lead. He didn’t even kick the accounts in his tribe that were bleeding villages so badly. Some of those accounts have even managed to change the tides and make gains now.

In conclusion, ODA has definitely proved they can provide robotic like stats but they have also proved, as sweetmisery said, they can walk the walk  and what better place to walk than the catwalk? In my eyes no one deserves a stroll down the catwalk more than ODA right now!
