The New Family

Hi! So there have been some major changes in the world this week and my focus has turned to the Kata Family and the UN Family. What is going on with them? What changed? Are we in for even more surprises soon? Read on to find out.

What Happened?

So the basic concept of what happened this week. UN W40 merged into Kata and Katax(well their top players) instead of merging into NMS. What made this decision. It was a number of things. The diplomacy UN W40 once had seemed hard to fix(both Kata and NMS refused a new NAP multiple times), the number of sits UN W40 council and more active members were holding were burning them out, and the losses against them were growing. Even Bastille mentioned the numerous sits they were dealing with…

KATA caused a few players to quit or disappear with sits being sent to former UN Council members… who already had 3-4 sits they were managing (and slowly burning out). -Bastille

All this piled up on the tribe and they began to crumble while looking for diplomacy, but at first it couldn’t be found. A bit more time went by and an issue arose between Kata and NMS in K50. The basic run down of what happened from what I have seen is that Kata was nobling players from another tribe they are warring(*RAGE*, Worthy, Gentle, RPX, something along those lines) and the tribe had recruited into K50. NMS and Kata had a NAP agreement for the border from what I understand, but the area over in K50 was implied not written into the NAP.

There was never a specific agreement about Ks 50 & 51. Although NMS may have assumed that the line would go all the way to the world’s edge, I do not recall that that was ever actually agreed upon (although it is possible I am wrong – I do not claim to be infallible). -Phoenix2050

Shortly after this nobling in k50 the secret “NAP”(haven’t been told otherwise that this is wrong, and it hasn’t been disproved in the forum by the leaders of NMS) with UN W40 was offered by NMS. The NAP was worked like this, NMS would noble inactive accounts in UN W40 while UN W40 stacked their border with Kata so that they could launch against Kata in mass(also not based on factual evidence). After Kata heard of this they offered a merge as well. UN W40 then voted on the merge, the first time the vote went to NMS, but then more information was given on the merge options and the vote turned to Kata. Now Kata has the new members, but what will happen from here? Will Kata and NMS fight it out now or will they be able to keep the peace for now? Still a lot of a fight left in this world, no telling how things may turn in the next few weeks.

Maps

These 2 maps are from before the merge and after the merge with UN W40(the most recent map) As you can see it is quite a large change in the world. It is interesting seeing the mix of colors in the east now compared to the solid blue that was there before. I am curious if this map will change alot more over the next month, will there be war with NMS and Kata or will the line across the center stay as it is?

The map above shows the look of the NMS Family(NMS, =CB= and ~CB~) and the Kata Family(Kata and KataX). These 2 tribes are the powerhouses of the world. If they do indeed face off it will be an interesting battle with such a large front between the 2 of them.

Statistics

With Kata and UN W40 merging the stats are hard to understand really…so I figured I would not post them. I will focus on the growth statistics.

Kata 11/13/2010-172,480,988 points Kata 11/20/2010-207,202,482 points Katax 11/13/2010-72,602,306 points Katax 11/20/2010-147,121,341 points So as you can see this merge boosted Kata and Katax a lot in terms of points(almost 110 million gained) and more good members. What will they do next? Looks like continue to eat at the remains of the east in UN W40 and who knows from there.

Interview Time!

To get a bit more of an inside look on how the merge went I contacted Kata and Moulson11, unfortunately I was unable to catch an interview with Moulson11 though. So here is an outlook on the merge with Kata and UN W40.

Destruction Follows: What made you guys decide to recruit the UN Family? Iain697: Well in the beginning we flatly refused to recruit any UN, to be honest, we had a pretty solid NAP with NMS built up out of respect for each other and there were defined territories and with the odd one or two villages here and there. My personal opinion and this is just my opinion is that K50/K51 had something to do with a change in our (NMS/Kata) relationship, RPX recruited the ex-RAGE players, and with nukes flying from K50 and defense incoming we couldn’t just simply sit on our hands. Why is this important in my view? Well according to my view of the events, this I think prompted NMS to take UN’s propositions more seriously. We had some information that this was happening up until that point we had flatly refused all of UN’s overtures. Phoenix Jeff: (at that stage they were requests for a NAP to be restored I should point out). Iain697: Then literally over one weekend, having found out about NMS’s / UN’s requests for NAP’s to be restored rang the alarm bells. We started to listen to UN’s proposal more seriously, and ultimately Moulson11 put a poll up within UN in order to ascertain which way his actives would like to go (NMS/Kata). Phoenix Jeff: There were also mails from CB members to UN members suggesting that they secretly NAP & join CB later, in my opinion we entered the “race” last, but our hand was forced not by UN, but by NMS. Destruction Follows: Interesting, so overall how do you feel NMS has reacted to this all? Phoenix Jeff: Well…I believe that they over-reacted to the K50 nobling, as they were quite a long way from that K. It was not our focus, personally I was nobling more in K87 & the main focus was east killing UN players & taking territory, but because Kata was not taking as many villages as NMS/CB straight away we were accused of going easy on UN. Iain697: Yes, and we had enough on our hands clearing K71/70 etc. Phoenix Jeff: NMS didn’t give us enough credit for moving the D stacks I feel, making their job easier. Iain697: But to be honest, I believe that we did encounter most of UN’s main actives, we made at least 2-3 players quit that I know of. Phoenix Jeff: Axilles players quit by our pressure but not directly by our troops for example. Iain697: To be honest I think both NMS and Kata’s views have some merit, but we (and -core- in particular) have made a point of trying to respect other tribes. Destruction Follows: It rarely occurs where one side or the other is correct, both sides usually have merits. Iain697: Overall, though we have to look at what is in the best interests of Kata. Like many other tribes we also suffered from our own activity issues and therefore the resultant recruitment has given Kata a boost, without a doubt. However, we could not just be expected to stand by and let UN / NMS get together. I personally feel that would have been bad for the world, as it would have given NMS far too much of an advantage. Personally, I think the current arrangement makes for a more interesting world. Phoenix Jeff: It has breathed some life into the externals lol. Destruction Follows: True with NMS and CB working together they are the powerhouse of the north currently. This gives it a fairer playing field I would say. So what would you all say is the new goal for Kata? Phoenix Jeff: Well…it hasn’t really changed, but is a lot more developed now. Kata was a premade as was NMS, both tribes did form with the goal of winning the world…for a long while I thought that Kata would probably fold if we actually achieved the seemingly impossible (at the time) goal of controlling the south. Iain697: I will be open here…The current objectives are to secure the east and west. We have said internally, and I don’t mind this being repeated, but with the current position of KoT and his villages we wouldn’t want to take advantage of that, so there will be no warring NMS on our side until NMS indicate they are ready. However, should they want to fire the first shots, we will respond accordingly. Of course our members that have just joined us are still valid targets for NMS and they continue to be attacked for the moment so I guess we will see what happens. Destruction Follows: It will be interesting to see the turn out and what NMS does decide. So how would you all say the new members are working with Kata? Is everybody getting along with each other? Phoenix Jeff: Of course not lol, but it’s been much easier than many other merges/recruitment drives to be honest. Destruction Follows: Haha. Phoenix Jeff: Most of the UN recruits are good players who understand that quarterbacks don’t win games alone. Iain697: As with every time this happens there are always one or two people that don’t get along. However, the tribe council recognizes that new people take time to adjust we treat everyone fairly, and have even some of the new members doing important jobs for us; we are willing to listen to new ideas. Destruction Follows: That is very good. I am sure in due time that everybody will start working well together. So do you all think that the world will still end in Kata vs. NMS? Or have things changed? Phoenix Jeff: Hard to tell if it will be an ending. But if the tribes do face off for an extended period then it’s reasonable to expect that one will eventually end up with 70 % required for world winning. Iain697: Who knows what will happen, but to be honest, it certainly is one of the possible scenarios. Destruction Follows: It will be a interesting fight indeed. Phoenix Jeff: Looks like 287K villages total, 169K abandoned so 118 K player villages, it will be a long while before any tribe will control 70% of the world. So W40 has plenty of life in it yet & registrations are still open. Destruction Follows: Unless some mega merge occurs or something along those lines then yes indeed. Phoenix Jeff: A la W18 yes, unlikely I think. Destruction Follows: I agree too many heads that don’t get along in the same tribe. Are there any last words you all would like to add for this? Phoenix Jeff: lol I suppose I should say something inspiring or something, or just declare war on the barbs of W40. So overall the merge seems to be going well for Kata. It has brought in new active players, new ideas and new goals and expansion opportunities. Will this merge provoke the gang bang phoenix2050 spoke of or will NMS move on from this and let the NAP stand? Many questions still need to be answered. Next week I hope to get the interview with Moulson as well as with KoT so we can see all sides of this story. Once all this settles down I may be able to move onto another topic in the world, but this is the big thing at the moment and I figured it needed to be written about. Thanks for the feedback guys. I am glad you like the blogs CRaFTy, I hope that people outside the world are able to read the blogs and get a good look inside the world. Really appreciate it. I hope to have the next blog out sometime this next week, the holidays might delay it a few for me, but it should still be less than the 2 weeks of this previous blog.

OH well atleast the world is changing. I do wonder how long that merger will last. A lot of BS comes out of some of those UN members. We meaning KATA and NMS have caught UN lying on numerous occasions. But if KATA will allow people like that in their tribe then so be it.

Yup a NAP was right and KATA offered a merge because they didn’t want to actually have to fight a tribe all by their lonesome. Quite funny if you ask me.

Thanks Destruction for your always great articles.

I want just to point out that we didnt overreact to K50 ahd K51 nobling bt Kata. They didnt have the courtesy of inform us they woyld be breaking our previous agreements. And the only reason for Kata do do this, wasnt RPX recruiting RAGE only. Core told me that how could I expect Kata to take 40% of world vs 60% by NMS (theorytical wolrd domination). Funny is that Kata never to negotiate adjunstments ot what we had agreed. They just did it and expected NMS to shut up. I had to ask about those 2 K’s!

We then started to listen to UN offers, but obviously we were cheated by Moulson. UN 25 core players voted on a poll, and they decided to go to NMS / CB, however Moulson and other UN leaders decided to ignored their own people will and joined Kata. One made for each other… personally I don’t trust any of those two tribes anymore or I should say the Kata family? lol

Destruction, I think you should add Kaos, UN w40 and UN40A to happy Kata family in your map
