Talking to Santa

January 4, 2012 in Speed News, World News

First things first, I’m ArmyOfLoners the HP and W52 Forum Mod and member of the Tribalwars Blog Staff, and I’ll be working on blog issues for the Speed server and related topics. If you ever need to get ahold of me a message to my forum account is the best bet or else get me on skype at buddylee101

I’ll be popping in from time to time to cover certain speed rounds, players, or speed related topics. Feel free to drop me any suggestions at the locations above.

All that out of the way, the holiday speed rounds are the first thing we’ll take a look at. During the Christmas Attack Breaks, the Christmas Round ran with the following settings:

This three day event was setup to coincide with the attack breaks to hopefully encourage a large number of you to join in on the fun, even during the holiday. I do hope all of you who joined in had a co-player or two so you could still spend some time with your family and friends! (That other forum poster you talk to a lot doesn’t count ;) ) ¬†One of the more hotly debated settings, no morale, made it more difficult if not unworkable to join in late and still have a good shot at taking the crown. Why that setting was picked for a 3 day round? Can’t really say. Maybe it was used to increase competition at the start of the round or to keep late-joining players, unlikely to win, from joining and encourage them to enjoy their holiday another way. Who knows?

We do know the round results which can be found at http://tribalwars.net/sds_ranking.php?type=player&round_id=1330 for anyone interested.

I caught up with one of the players of the Xela186 account, the Speed Santa 2011 title winner, to hear what they thought of the holiday round…

Aaron:
What in the world are a bunch of nubz doing winning a holiday speed round?

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
What are we doing?
Winning :O

Aaron:
So it seems, you played the Xela186 account correct?

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
Yes. Alongside with Naji and Adam.

Aaron:
When did you guys decide to tri-co?

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
Emmm… I started playing the Xela acct before the Christmas round but Adam was welcome to co – play with us right before the round.

Aaron:
You’ve played rounds with Naji before then?

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
Not alot. 1 round :\ together.
But he needed me and my times, so why not co on his account ? ;)

Aaron:
It seems to have worked out well ;)

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
Yup.

Aaron:
How often do you play speed?

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
I am not a speed fan like Naji, Sam, Aidan or Adrian .. I just play if I’ve already farmed on my w51 and find myself bored. So I search for speed rounds and if I see I wasn’t late on it or it is starting soon, why not play? :)

Aaron:
Is that what you did for this Christmas round, or were you planning to play because of the attack breaks?

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
Naji seemed a good player and so when he told me to play the Christmas Round, I said to him “sure” because it is always a pleasure to co – play with such a good player. But of course, attack breaks gave me more time for Speed. :)

Aaron:
What was your strategy coming into the round, without much time playing as a team?

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
(Think)
Skype Chat :D
We found targets together.
We talked about which vills to stack if it is a big player
Emm
Naji was the one leading the account. As he said : “You understand Naji is playing Xela when the ODA of the account is going up.” But all of us farmed alot and nonstop when we had to go on the account.
The account and all 3 of us were well organized and we didn’t have lack of communication between us unlike some other accounts. One of the reasons Rank 1 was us.

Aaron:
Considering how much you beat rank 2, did you have much competition? Anyone give you a run for your money early on?

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
Yes. We were lucky with one of the players when we just started the round. Thank god this round had sleep mode. There was a potentional tribe who was rank 1 in early stage of the round who was in our continent. We had 2 villages, got our main village nobled and sniped the other train on our newly conquered village. There was another attempt of nobling us but sleep mode of the player turned on.But after that, indeed we were growing alot and nobled everything we could see. We were also lucky with our tribemates who provided us help when needed.

Aaron:
How did nubz form, and was it once everything got started or did you setup before?

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
Once everything got started and after we got high in ranks. Afterwards, we formed nubz and invited our friends like RetributionDefined (Aidan) and BrownDog82. The other 2 where just 2 fellas who asked for invite.

Aaron:
Overall the holiday speed round settings were enjoyable?

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
They were fine – yes. Except the fact that it could’ve been a bit more faster. x200 would be perfect.

Aaron:
Which do you like playing more multi-day or few hour rounds and why?

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
Hmm now that’s a question to think about :D
Both are nice – I must say. Multi – day rounds could be nice and enjoyable for the reason that you get a chance to play with your friends and co each other whereas the couple hour rounds are often faster and also enjoyable :)

Aaron:
What are some updates or improvements TW could make to the speed round system?

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
Awards. I’ve seen awards in the greek speed server and they seem more competitive and more wanting to farm :D Especially in multi-day rounds it could be fun putting daily awards which IMO, could make it more competitive and more fun.

Aaron:
Maybe awards could be implemented in future speed rounds, regardless congratulations on your first place finish in the Christmas Speed Round :)

w57.HisFace / Nikita:
Thank you very much and thank you alot for interviewing me.

That’s all I’ve got for you this time around, be on the lookout for the next Speed blog!
