World News

For the first time in many months, W18 shows little sign of large scale war. Though the INF conflict and several other skirmishes remain, since the end of the -MM- vs. Aggression and Legion vs. UA wars, no longer do the superpowers clash.

The two strongest tribes on W18, Apocalypse Death and Mayhem Makers, find themselves in a growth and recruitment race rather than an arms race. Both from east and west fight indirectly for the top spot. Here’s how the rankings play out:

Rank Tribe name Points of the best 40 player Total points Members Average points per player Villages Average points per village
1 -MM- 162.808.692 252.425.151 92 2.743.752 25562 9.875
2 Apoc-D 161.827.884 238.551.631 93 2.565.071 23969 9.953
3 Apoc-W 113.137.251 172.279.985 97 1.776.082 17380 9.913
4 xGoCx 103.595.782 151.078.999 95 1.590.305 15342 9.847

The Flame War

There is a HUGE flame war going on right now on W18, spreading over multiple threads. I didn’t start it, but I sure as hell caused it. (yeah, like the college humor vid) I must have a habit of indirectly causing conflict and controversy.

If you come bringing a fire extinguisher, please go Here.

If you come bringing a gas can, please go Here.

As you can probably decipher from the above links, I really don’t care who claims who as a refugee. Either drop the issue or go to war. Yes, I believe this is the first time there has ever been a rick roll in a tribal wars blog.

Happy Independance Day to the Americans! ^_^

“Sorry you lost the colonies” day to the British :-S

I realized that by the time it had come to write this blog post that I had already written everything I wanted and needed to. In the past, I tended to make a lot of 3rd person jokes at myself as the leader of legion, so either you are relieved to hear that I will not/cannot make any more of them, or crushed that you wont get to enjoy my witty sense of humor.

World News

The Last Legion has disbanded. A tribe that was once #1 on our server, and was until recently the oldest. But as the memory of legion passes into history, so too do we look into the future. The current discussion, and official announcement of Legions disbandment can be found Here: The End of an Era, Birth of a New Age .

To some, this is the passing of a legacy, to others, the collapse of a dying tribe, and to those who caused it, a sweet victory. But enough writing in 3rd person, yes, it was me who disbanded legion. Many people looked to legion to hold the front against the UA, and to those who counted on Legion to lead the banner may not yet understand why Legions Disbandment was necessary. Legion had in fact been fighting an intense war against the Unholy Alliance for approximately 8 1/2 months. During which time, they had lost several continents to defection and conquest. I refuse to allow this to be legions only place in history, the tribe I once know deserves better than this.

The following is a publication of the Notice of disbandment sent circular to legion on June 27th:

Greetings players of Legion,

This day has been long in coming, and I expect many people expected this sooner. As many people who have defected will tell you, our sense of brotherhood is not what it used to be. Even our founder, John Murray did not return to us because legion is not the same tribe he led so many months ago. Legion was once the greatest tribe that W18 had ever seen. But our time of glory has passed… All around us is the skeleton of an empire that dominated our server.

What is best for “legion” at this point may not also be best for all of its players collectively, the whole being worth less than the sum of its parts in this case. As leader of legion, I must try to do what is best for everyone in the tribe. At this point, it is self evident that our war against the Unholy Alliance is un-winnable. It would not be reasonable to ask anyone to stay in a tribe that cannot protect them, or die for an empty cause. Legion as a tribe will be sacrificed to ensure that its players may still have a future in this world.

This is a notice that Legion will be disbanding within the next few days. As a player, where you go from here will depend on geography and ideology. Our ally -MM- welcomes legion players, but as they have won the war, tribes in the Apoc family as considerable options dependent on your individual situation. At this point you are free to go wherever you like. Please mail me with your decision, or for suggestions and recommendations during this transition period, I will help where I can.

From this point until the tribe is disbanded, all forums will be viewable, (including our extensive archives) and all privileges will be reset. Legion will remain together until the majority of players leave to ensure that this transition is as smooth as possible, and so that legion players are not left defenseless without a tribe.

I would like to put legion to rest. Being the oldest tribe on this server, with an extensive history and one of the top OD scores, the natural thing would be to hold on as long as possible. But keeping legion in its current state is a disrespect to how legion once was. I would rather that it be remembered into the future as the old school kickass tribe we once were, even though none now remain who were there.

When selecting a new tribe, please do yourself a favor, and choose one that will respect you as a player, and as a person. But always remember where you came from…

Respect and Honor,

Akitar, Leader of Legion

-MM-: TheEnd and Back again

The tribe Mayhem Makers (-MM-) have reverted back to their original name after a week and a half of holding the name TheEnd. This is apparently because they were searching for new and better names for TheEnd and Death to signify their new postwar status. I suggested a few names, my favorite being “Fire” and “Ice” for MM and Death respectively, but I dont think they ever got through to anyone.

The End of Blade

The tribe Blade disbanded this week, following an attack by the new tribe founded by Lord Leon Towasoki, Tag: Kitty. Lol’s and Lmao’s aside at Leons tribe,  Blade has an extensive history as one of the Core tribes of world 18. Founded by FCRS-OP-SM in April 2008, blade was more recently known for a close alliance with legion throughout the Legion vs. Dusk, and Legion vs. UA conflicts. Blades central placement in W18 made it a sort of crossroads tribe, bordered by many other sovereign powers.

Complete and Utter Randomness

There seems to be a trend on the blog lately of complete and utter randomness, so to keep up with Ddog’s crazy post, im going to have to bring in some failblog pics. (Click to enlarge)

Warning: The following is a post regarding an addicting game! if you value your free time, skip over this next part!!!

To throw some fruit in our randomness salad, I just played the best freeware game EVER! I had to force myself away from it, otherwise I wouldn’t be making any more ennoblements, or this blog for awhile. The game is called Stranded II, and you play as a character stranded on an uninhabited island. The premise of the game: Stay Alive! Hunt animals for food, make tools to help build better amenities, gather items and resources, and forge weapons.

News This Week

New this week, the members of the tribal wars forum are color coded based on what position they hold.  Blog staff got fancy purple forum names to go to the title. Just felt like mentioning it to someone, might as well be here XD. In addition, Red for moderators, green for game staff, cyan for wiki staff, Blue for Senior In game staff, and pink for LiZy. ^_^  (This update is a result of my observation only, so sorry if this information is inaccurate, or there is anything I’ve left out.)

Happy Birthday to Lord Leon Towasoki! He is  23 years of age as of June 19th. Yes, this is also a reminder to everyone that I accept user submitted content. I write the blog, but it is ultimately for W18, so it is of great help when people let me know about things that happen outside my corner of the world. I’ve even been known to write for World 38. So if your on W18 or W38, just shoot me a mail and I’ll be happy to tell your story.

The End & Death

The merge between “The End” and “Death” tribes is now quite official, but not in any particular direction, as players have been going back and forth. Although The End, and Death’s new policy changes seem fairly straight forward, there is a definite Grey area considering their classification. It seems to me, that two tribes together would be considered Brother/Sister tribes, and three or more would be considered a family, but with all sorts of speculation, it is difficult to tell for sure.

And yet to some degree, it doesn’t matter what The End and Death are classified as, the fact remains they are working together. And the tribe once known as -MM- never really did care what others thought of them, they were tough, and they knew it. Legion is living (or dying) proof that a fancy name or title won’t win you a war.

Top 10 Reasons to Play World 18

With more and more people quitting every day, I think it would be good to remind everyone what’s so great about w18 that keeps us logging on often enough to keep from going inactive. So I present to you the top 1o reasons to play W18, enjoy.

  • #10: The growing barbs- There once was a time that the growth of barbarian villages was limitless.  W18 is one of those lucky worlds were you can find high point barbarians for your farming or nobeling pleasure.
  • #9: We are Speed One- You can comfortable log on much less often than you could on a newer world, or one of a higher speed. Because of this, everyone has gotten kind of lazy, meaning its only a little extra effort to play quite a bit better in comparison with everyone else.
  • #8: 15 months of play history- There are no n00bs on W18.  This server has been going for well over a year now, and the fact that everyone has stuck through this game for so long is really quite remarkable.
  • #7: The Blog- World 18 is the only world with a blog updated every week, thanks in no small part due to me ;D If you miss out on the forums for awhile, quit the world and want to see whats up, just log on the blog and filter for W18.
  • #6: Infrequent Server Crash- W18 used to crash constantly the first few months. Now we are on a great server, and crashes are infrequent.
  • #5: Our world has a 500|500 village- Currently owned by Korlik, and account co-played by keee & swordnuke , represents the “King of the Hill” in a way. As long as you do not own this village, you will forever be driven to do so, like a game with infinite replayability.
  • #4: W18 Families- This world has huge families…. so how is this a good thing? well you will never run out of a topic to flame about on the forum. XD
  • #3 The Gold Coins- With your stockpile of gold coins, even if your brought down to one village, you can always come back to your previous point total with relative ease.  kippywho is the only player I’ve known to have done this.
  • #2: The Diminishing Competition- People are quitting these days at an ever faster rate. This has tons of advantages, mainly because new opportunity for real estate, but also because good players are hard to come by, and are always an extremely valuable tribal asset.
  • #1: Sam’s Cookies- The player Sambrer0 makes really good cookies. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried his mint chocolate chip. This is my way of congratulating sambrer0 for being this weeks ennoblement winner. Out of the last 7 days, Sambrer0 nobled 44 villages. Congrats to sam!

Name Changes & Developments

The tribe formally known as the Mayhem Makers (-MM-)  seems that they will keep their new name, The End with tag: TheEnd. The tribe formally known as Agression (*A*) have also changed their name to DEATH with tag: Death. The two renamed tribes TheEnd and Death were known for having an intense war lasting several months. However it seems that both tribes may be working together. There is even speculation that TheEnd, the tribe most strongly opposed to families, will be making a new family with Death. Neither tribe have indications to this on their profiles, but the nature of the name changes definitely denotes some form of cooperation. This topic is being discussed in detail Here.

Official End to War: -MM- Vs. Aggression

With the changing of their respective names comes an official end to the war of -MM- Vs. Aggression. The war lasted an impressive five months, beginning January 5th 2009 and coming to an end June 8th 2009. The W18 forum thread “-MM- vs. Aggression having an astounding 4’574 posts, and 82’872 views has at last fallen silent.

The war itself was one of the most intense conflicts our world has seen to date.  five months of fighting seems to have breed more respect than contempt. As we look into the future, we will no doubt see what lasting effects this will have on W18 at large.

Farewell to Arms

On a side note, a distinguished player has left us this week. jethrojavier,  of the tribe TheEnd, having achieved the best rank of 52, said his goodbyes on the public forums, and was met with great regrets by the W18 community, He will be missed.
