Yeah, I realize the fact that I haven’t been on tribal wars as much as usual lately. I understand that everyone is emotinally crushed during any periods of my absence. Who would have thought going to college could cut into tribal wars time? :S

After a conversation with my accociate blog administrator, and after taking into account the opinions of a few team members (not just because of my time crunch), we would like to give players the option to obtain subscriber level wordpress accounts. A World Divided

Tribal wars politics is always a cacophany of allies and enemies, war and diplomacy. World 18 has matured to the point where alliances and the wars are clearly identifiyable by everyone involved, one battle of East vs. West. Much like a game of chess, tribal wars worlds follow three main phases of gameplay. First is the the opening, roughly the time from the worlds start, up to the point where nobleman are widely available. Second is the mid game, from the point nobleman are available, roughly to the point the world closes. And the last phase, the end game, has a very tricky description. A world will know its in the end game when tribes no longer fight over single continents, the point at which all the tribes are settled, leading up to the end of the world….

So after a year or so of trying to ignore him, I figure it might be time to give some recognition to W18’s most controvertial player, Adanouch.

Adanouch has always been an all together differant breed of player than most of us. It is nearly impossible to distinguish if his ego is just a facade he puts up to attract attention, or if these are his true views. Just this past month, Adanouch switched sides from the UA in Apoc, to the Mayhem Makers (-MM-) despite the fact that he is compleately surrounded by Apoc. Though most people would dismiss this as a move of terrible strategic value, Adanouch is skilled enough to play successfully in this position. No matter what your views on Adanouch are, his 5 minutes of fame on W18 are well deserved.

World Statistics

Most people use TW stats regularly, but just how often do you get use out of the World Statistics? Where else could you find information such useless information as the total amount of messages sent, total points, or average troops per player? With the magic of the Wordpress format preservation, this trivial information is now available for all to see. Maybe sometime in the future, we will look back on this post, and see just how far we’ve come. (or how much we lost)

World News

The center of the world, the village 500|500, was conquered from Korlik (-MM-) By Rashelle (Apoc-D) on 14th August 2009 at 03:43:40. This is a symbolic transition for both the conflict between Apoc and -MM-, as well as the state of W18 as a whole. The 500|500 village has been under control of  -MM- since September 2008, and has long represented -MM-’s dominance over the world. The fact that Apoc now controls this important village shows that they are truly a force to be reckoned with.

There is still a major flame war progressing on the world forums between players on the east and west sides of the world, as well as a lot of general forum activity. Things in W18 are quite double edged and interisting right now, and Im sure a lot of the players left are glad they stayed this long. Our forum moderation is also excellant thanks to our most recent forum mod O Great One. I get the feeling now that someone actually cares about our forums, something that most W18 player’s aren’t used to.

The xGoCx Story

The tribe “Gods of Chaos (xGoCx) is down to its last player, having once dominated the north eastern continents of the world. Zepyrus explains the process that brought the tribe down.

xGoCx began falling apart about a month ago, people were leaving due to the leadership issues. But our first duke step down and gave leadership to ABNSAPPER, as Dougie321 was also helping with leading the tribe, I guess Dougie321 was getting to bossy and people weren’t liking it. So they started to leave and find other tribes and starting new tribes. That went on for about 2 weeks and finally ABNSAPPER stepped down from leading and Dougie321 sent a message saying xGoCx was being disbanded.

Members of xGoCx it is with a SAD heart that I have to step down and leave the tribe I have worked so hard to build the last 16 months. Personal reasons for leaving and the fact that this tribe is deffinately not what it usto be and myself and 2 others can not fix it. Take this to heart xGoCx we were once a tribe that EVERYONE feared in W-18, when we attacked players would QUIT. That is not the case anymore the few carry the many here and it saddens me to see what the few have worked so many hours, days and months to build just fall apart. I would say to any active member wanting to continue to play talk to your new Duke Dougie321 and push for a merger with ~S~ it is the only way you will survive to the end of this world. No one can make it alone here we all need a tribe and tribe members to be sucessful in this game, and I want to thank everyone who made this game fun and sucessful for me!!!

World News

Tensions between major world tribes continue to escalate. Many more attacks have been launched between Apoc and -MM-, but there has still been no official decoration of war. To get both sides of the issue, i spoke briefly with a member of -MM-, Dukefan7777777, in an interview that can be seen below.

The tribe known as “Gods of Chaos (xGoCx), ranked #4 only a few months ago, is dissolving after a long hard war against the Balken Alliance…. But thats the problem with me reporting things like this, because I honestly dont know whats going on, nor do I know anyone personally involved. But The fall of a major world power seems important enough, so if anyone else knows more than I do, Id be glad to elaborate.

William Wallace Reade (Dukefan7777777): Anytime, thank you for having me

Akitar: So for our first question, What is your take on the status of the conflict between Apoc and -MM-? From where I stand, theres fighting going on, but there has been no official decoration made yet.

William Wallace Reade (Dukefan7777777): Well, to be honest, this is a very hard question.  As of now, I think it is more of just a few local skirmishes in some areas as their is so real border which is shared by the two tribes.  However it has the potential to either turn into a massive war, or to quiet down, time will tell.

Akitar: You seem to get around W18 quite well, most everyone knows you, or at least knows OF you. Do you have many reliable contacts in tribes that MM is at odds with? and if so, has it created any tension?

William Wallace Reade (Dukefan7777777): Well, I know quite a few people, but most are in either -MM-, or Apoc, with a few being in INF and Silence.  For the most part it has caused no tension, and never did.  I consider McCurtain one of my better ingame friends along with Dipank and it had no affect on either of us in the war, in fact, it made it more fun.  And even now with this “war” going on between Apoc and -MM- I just got back to talking with Zain a lot, and he is a great guy.  So from my perspective tension is only created if you want it to be

Akitar: You used to be have a leadership position in -MM- Correct? do you still hold this position? and do you feel comfortable spaking on the behalf of your tribe?

William Wallace Reade (Dukefan7777777): Yes, when I first joined -MM- from 7L, I held the Duke position along with Mbazar, Keee, and then eventually Super Sweet (who we all miss!).  But through time I left this game 3 different times, with the third time being recently, however I am back now!  So I do not still hold this position, however I am on the HC and doing my best to help my tribe.  And yes I do feel comfortable speaking on behalf of -MM-, just depends on the situation I would say if that makes sense

Akitar: Tribes in the Unholy Alliance have been at war with allies of -MM- for quite some time now (legion,~TS~/INF) given this situation, would there have been any chance for cooperation between Apoc and MM, or do you think it was inevitible that this bad blood would lead to a more direct war?

William Wallace Reade (Dukefan7777777): Hmm, well to be honest, I do not think their was ever a chance for us to help Apoc against LEGION or INF as they are or were in Legions case our longest allies (never allies to ~TS~).  But if it would have happened, who knows what would have happened in W18.  Maybe you wouldn’t be in Apoc right now :O!

Akitar: Touche, in fact, many players seem to have very divided opinions as to the W18 situation, (in referance to the flame war) Where do you fit into all the propaganda?

William Wallace Reade (Dukefan7777777): Well I used to love the PnP forums at the beginning when all the random topics were out and it was interesting to read about what was happening on W18, but now is seems like almost every thread is dedicated to -MM- and Apoc or somehow mentions it…So nowadays I only post when:

1) I am very bored

2) I try to be funny and probably fail

3) When someone is just asking me to make them look bad or “knock them around with some truth” as MrMacMan once said

Akitar: So I noticed, after you pointed it out above, that your origional account seems to be quite inactive, with its last conquer being in May. Would you care to enlighted our readers as to which account you currently occupy?

A Note on the Blog

So, as most people will see, there’s more than just a few guys doing the blog now. There are now 11 out of 41 worlds represented by a blog author. It was my pleasure to help review the applications for this new group. This is great for me, because now I have a new group of people with new ideas to copy off of. ^_^ But seriously, I think that with a greater talent pool, and the free association of ideas, that everyone’s work will be much more dynamic.

There hasn’t been a lot of talk about W18’s blog or on the W18 blog thread lately. Its hard to tell if people are loosing internist in it, or if im just not that popular of a guy anymore. So If anyone has anything they would like to see in the blog, like interviews of important people, or specific maps or statistics, dont be afraid to give me a shout. Then again, if anyone has any content they would like to submit directly, that works great too.

W18 News: Let the Propaganda begin!

limited war has begun between the Apoc family, and the Mayhem Makers. (-MM-) As is traditional on world 18, being a year and a half old speed one world, there is as much fighting done through propaganda as there is on the frontlines. After a few weeks in the doldrums, and a short growth race, W18 seems to be back in action!

-MM-/Apoc Conflict Logistics

True, I do not refer to, or consider the conflict between Apoc and -MM- to be a war. First is an official reason, neither side has actually made a public forum decloration. Following precident from past major wars, a forum topic is created specifically for the war, containing the decloration in the first post. Since I havn’t seen one of those yet, I really cant call it a war. Second is because of scale. Apoc is really just launching on the players that they consider to be refugees, so just a few select players, this makes things very easy for -MM- in my opinion, as they now know exactly where to stack all there defenses.

So here’s the logistical breakdown: The Apocolype family, with their family branches and allies, has control over much of the western half of W18. -MM- has all of their players in one large mass starting from the eastern half of the core, and extending outwards towards the rim. Although -MM- is not a family tribe like Apoc, they do have influence over much of the eastern half of the world with the tribes that share Apoc as a common enemy.

But the main thing about all else keeping Apoc and -MM- from total war is the lack of a common boarder. There are just too few places that the tribes actually come into contact. The end of the Legion wars created a huge buffer zone of neutral players in the core that both sides have to work through, recruiting or nobling, to get to the other. If things continue at this pace, we are looking at a glorified boarder skirmish that could take years to resolve.

Another New Forum Mod

Yes, we have another new forum mod. Goes by the name of O Great One. I believe a problem that we have had in the past, is that W18 would be assigned to the newer forum mods, who just didn’t have the experiance to keep up with the posters on the W18 forum.  But OGO has been around since November 2007. For a forum world to convince an old TW vet like him to hand up his spurs and battle axe would be quite a feat indeed.

As the author of W18’s blog, I feel that it is my responsibility to represent our world, with our unique internists, as best I can. This includes talking to our new mod on the terms he moderates our forum with. One of the most popular new threads on the forum, the “Apoc and MM trash talk thread” recently caught the eye of our new mod. OGM was ready to lock the thread unless a good reason was not found to keep it open. It takes a substantial knowlege of W18, our history, and our current situation to understand why a trash talk thread between Apoc and -MM- is necessary right now, so I hasend to take up the argument. Through some mutual understanding between OGM and I, we agreed that the thread should remain open, and I believe that OGM now has a better understanding of just how W18 works. World News: The Doldrums Continue!

I dont know anything interesting thats happened lately, do you? If anyone wants to put in any content, please hit me up with a forum message here. Otherwise, this works to my advantege, because now I get to post whatever the heck I want. ^_^

The W18 superpowers Apoc and -MM- still seem to be at a standoff, yet from where I sit, it seems that they are edging away from war. The tribes are coming to agreements on territorial boundaries and nobling area. Both sides also seem to have enough enemies to keep them busy for quite awhile without fighting each other. This might just be a facade that one side has put up to lure the other into a false sense of security, but if either side was planning something, someone would have spilled the truth by now.

Ah, the world breaths easy, everyone gets to grow as much as they can before the next major war starts. I know, boring isn’t it? ;D Here is the spread of the W18 top 10.

Weekly Kerfuffle

Oh Boy! I get to make up another crazy and ridiculous story!

Have extra nukes and want some OD? Feel like letting luck decide a players destiny? Want to pick out a random target on the map for really no reason at all? And how do you do all this? Simple, just take out a map of W18, and throw a dart!

*I imagine at this point you have a dart stuck in your computer screen, so allow me to enlighten you. The choice of a random target on the TW map is made easy with a new widget I call “The TW Dart Simulator”, just press the button, and throw a dart!

Here’s how it works, whenever you press the throw button, a random six digit number will be generated, corresponding to a random position on a standard hundred continent TW map. For example, my first throw was 967601, making my coordinate 967|601, which is unfortunately an unoccupied space in K69. But fear not! should you fail to strike a player village, all you need is to throw another dart. Have fun and happy hunting.

New Mod

The world 18 section of the tribal wars forum has a new moderator, please give a warm welcome to Scholesy2005. He is our 5th… no 6th… 7th maybe? moderator. We had at least 4-5 before him, but no one seems to be able to keep track. Anyways, its scholesy that will be dishing out the infractions from now on, so some of us *Cough plarinsucks* better get used to the idea.

Our former mod Timdogg appears to have left the game entirely, as his account name is un-registered. R.I.P. Timdogg, he was the coolest mod we’ve had so far. Now we’ll see if Scholesy can live up to him.

Worldly Affairs

Nothing really worth mentioning. (as far as I know) Either nothing interesting has happened the past week, or its just because I was playing another world entirely. So times like this when there’s really nothing interesting to report, I need to get creative to fill the space. I’m going to start a new running gag called the The Weekly Kerfuffle. Basically whatever I feel like writing. I’ll try to keep it relevant to tribal wars and w18, but whatever I write is guaranteed to throw you for a loop.

The Weekly Kerfuffle

Breaking news everyone! The tribal wars game staff recently decided to make W18 one of the premier Test Worlds to see how slow older worlds would respond to a mid game change in settings. Barbarian villages will now be guarded by “Killer Rabbits of Caerbannog” That will attempt to decapitate any troops that approach as seen HERE. To cope with this new threat, a new type of unit will be available for training called “Holy Grenadiers”, units that go into battle wielding the “Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch“, in an attempt to vanquish the Killer Rabbits so that the village can be farmed. As according to the sacred text in the hand grenades manual, “First, thou shalt remove the holy pin, then shall thou count to three. Then lobbith thy holy hand grenade towards thy foe” As seen HERE.  Should the Holy Grenadiers count to a number other than three, being the third number reached, before lobbing the hand grenade, then collateral damage shall be inflicted upon thy army, rather than the intended target.

World News

For the first time in many months, W18 shows little sign of large scale war. Though the INF conflict and several other skirmishes remain, since the end of the -MM- vs. Aggression and Legion vs. UA wars, no longer do the superpowers clash.

The two strongest tribes on W18, Apocalypse Death and Mayhem Makers, find themselves in a growth and recruitment race rather than an arms race. Both from east and west fight indirectly for the top spot. Here’s how the rankings play out:

There is a HUGE flame war going on right now on W18, spreading over multiple threads. I didn’t start it, but I sure as hell caused it. (yeah, like the college humor vid) I must have a habit of indirectly causing conflict and controversy.

-MM-: TheEnd and Back again

The tribe Mayhem Makers (-MM-) have reverted back to their original name after a week and a half of holding the name TheEnd. This is apparently because they were searching for new and better names for TheEnd and Death to signify their new postwar status. I suggested a few names, my favorite being “Fire” and “Ice” for MM and Death respectively, but I dont think they ever got through to anyone.

The End of Blade

The tribe Blade disbanded this week, following an attack by the new tribe founded by Lord Leon Towasoki, Tag: Kitty. Lol’s and Lmao’s aside at Leons tribe,  Blade has an extensive history as one of the Core tribes of world 18. Founded by FCRS-OP-SM in April 2008, blade was more recently known for a close alliance with legion throughout the Legion vs. Dusk, and Legion vs. UA conflicts. Blades central placement in W18 made it a sort of crossroads tribe, bordered by many other sovereign powers.

Complete and Utter Randomness

To throw some fruit in our randomness salad, I just played the best freeware game EVER! I had to force myself away from it, otherwise I wouldn’t be making any more ennoblements, or this blog for awhile. The game is called Stranded II, and you play as a character stranded on an uninhabited island. The premise of the game: Stay Alive! Hunt animals for food, make tools to help build better amenities, gather items and resources, and forge weapons.
