A History of the SouthWest – Anthills

January 31, 2011 in Uncategorized, World 051 News, World News

Hello and welcome to a special, guest written blog. This issue is a trial issue for Anthills story of the W51 SouthWest. This story can be read in two ways, and has been written in two ways. The first is textbook style, just telling the story as if it were a book. The second is a first-person view, straight from his eyes in his negotiations and day-to-day happenings within game. This will come in a few parts if people find it interesting.

A Short History of Southwest W51
By the Cockroach of TW

Why a history from my perspective? Because you can see by the cast that I was literally at the center of everything in a number of ways. Also, I know more of the cast that is not listed above in a starring role than anybody else. All those mates of all those tribes. I do not know them all, nobody does, but I know more than anybody. Lastly, no player listed above who is still active would be capable of telling the story with any degree of honesty, even if they did know the cast.

The history of the Southwest has regrettably passed its peak in terms of producing anything admirable, without some great and unforeseen change in leadership. I say this because I know all the leaders of all the tribes and they all lack the most basic quality of a true leader, an interest in serving those they lead. Please note that Axte is not covered here, since this is the history of the Southwest, not the future.

I joined W51 a couple of weeks after it formed because I like the rim. Why? Ask me sometime and when I have time I will explain. I did not begin with a traditional pre-made of 30-80 players (despite the 50 member cap) selected by who they know from other worlds. I began with about a dozen mates who had been my mate personally in other worlds, half were newbs, half were vets. We saw where they were positioned and recruited in the gaps.

We, HERO, tried to take K74 and K63 from the start. K74 was easy, K63 was a mess. We eventually gave up our bid for K63 and sent players to FRM with a plan for them to merge into us one day.

SHEEPS was trying to take 3 K’s at the start. Within 3 days of being in this world, I had people mailing me about Charles the Bald Sheep. I mailed him, without even knowing he was Duke, and basically told him that nobody would influence the cost of food for him and his mates more than myself, should they venture Southwest. He blocked me almost immediately and had a mate start within 12 hours of my village (by noble) almost simultaneously. Our dominance of K74 was obscene in its pace and HEAD existed between us and the core of SHEEPS, who soon considered us the greatest threat to HEAD, and HEAD the greatest threat to SHEEPS. I could not get Ali Baa Baa to stop talking to me.

HEAD tried to take FOUR K’s from the start! Admirable in its ambition, yet lunacy none the less. While their greatest concentration was closest to us, they were spread across 4 K’s while we were thick as thieves where we came together. My first correspondence with HEAD was a short message to Psycho Mantis basically telling him, only much more eloquently…

Look, this top ranked tribe of mass-recruiting newbs cut half their mates to recruit mine, make me duke, and change their name to ours. One day SHEEPS is going to come knocking. You have 2 mates with 1 village each JUST inside K74. If they noble into K64 and you do not attack us, when SHEEPS comes knocking, you need not worry about us or FRM. You have a secure border along K74 and K63. If you noble in K74 or recruit in K74, it is obviously to attack us and will certainly lead to problems.

Their reply, basically, only much more eloquently…

We have no plans to attack you, if you do not attack us or noble in K64, but we will noble wherever we like and you should fear us, SHEEPS is no threat, but we might one day want good relations with you personally, which we should understand is not possible since we plan to noble in K74 and attack your mates in the future.

Eventually, lo and behold, SHEEPS came knocking. These HEAD mates had indeed nobled in K74, even admitted they had done so with the intent to attack us, but to their saving grace UBM stepped out of the shadows and acknowledged himself as their leader. I knew UBM from another world and he had never lied to me, so I did not declare on HEAD, even when everybody around them had. After they lost a few mates, UBM suggested that our best 10 mates join HEAD and offer that Jester had previously made. When it became obvious that K-T would take their K74 villages, I offered to recruit UBM’s 2 mates instead of rimming them, as I obviously should have done considering they had planned to attack us. I even offered a leadership role to King Shrek (when I found he had been gifted one of the accounts) because I liked his forum presence, he seemed like a good guy and it was not him who had nobled into K74 with plans to attack us.

HEAD disbanded when their 2 mates joined HERO. All the remaining mates from HEAD joined FRM. This posed a problem for a number of reasons…

1. SHEEPS knew we were closely related to FRM.
2. Jimi9mm had swore to me the day before he would not recruit a single mate from HEAD no matter who was cool with it, which meant our only ally could not be true to his word.
3. Jimi9mm had inistsed himself that (like us) he had no interest in fighting SHEEPS, but letting HEAD fight SHEEPS instead, which meant he could not be true to his war and was trying to drag us into a war we agreed neither of us wanted.
4. His mates expected us, as their allies, to back them, not knowing Jimi had lied to us repeatedly.
5. SHEEPS blamed me personally.

I explained to Jimi’s mates in our shared forum that Jimi had lied to us and betrayed every agreement we had. I explained that he understood that we had good relations with SHEEPS and SHEEPS and FRM were NOT at war BEFORE Jimi recruited all of the former HEAD which he insisted he would not do.

I pointed out that it was obviously impossible to have relations with such a leader, but that they did have mates in FRM who could speak without speaking falsely and we would like to try to continue our relations with FRM, especially when several of them were HERO. I suggested that UBM, William Birkin or Heaven Sword could be Duke of FRM and Jimi could step down. William Birkin attacked me personally in the shared forum for suggesting that he should lead FRM???? They instructed their mates in HERO to plot against us, afer we had been generous enough to recruit them when we could so easily have been the final blow to their entire tribe. They in turn drew support from FRM, then joined PL@gue and attacked FRM, and somehow (they must have used some combination of drugs, hypnosis and sleep deprivation) convinced FRM that it was all MY fault. LMAO! That was miraculous PnP, it is no lie that UBM is the God of PnP. He convinced a tribe that he betrayed them and attacked them, because of me, despite the fact I was not even in that tribe he betrayed and attacked. Um?

K85 and and K75 are technically the Southeast, but both Apathy and Jester made moves into the Southwest, though not just yet. For that exciting chapter in the turbulent history of Southwest W51, you will have to tune in to the next installment of the Cockroach Diaries.

We have entered a spectacular binary star system in the Kavis Alpha sector, home to a strange new world known as W51, on a critical mission to establish a new settlement before our own W36’s sun dies. The 8 man forward team has just arrived on the planet’s surface and the first reports are coming in. It is a strange and curious new world, W51. I have not had enough experience with morale worlds to be in favor or against, but this is the first world I have visited where we cannot support a village before it is ours. Will be interesting to see how that works out. The low member limit should help us against the inevitable “pre-mades” the Borg send out to assimilate us all. I like the pali with no weapons option and the speed of this new world. My greatest concern for our newest settlement is the population of this world, at this stage there should be no K74 yet, yet K74 is where we have landed. My concern is that we might not be able to take the rim before the larger core tribes that started earlier begin to test our boundaries.

Ground broke for the ~hero~ settlement.

We have a dozen mates from former campaigns, will need to recruit about a dozen more to have any chance to hold K74 and K63 long enough to capture K73.

Judman45 marks the Southern boundary, Risharks marks the Eastern boundary (at the K75 line), while I share the West (at the K73 line) with XxXConVictXxX. Scouts have reported on a mass-recruiting newb settlement (ROBOT) that exists between us. With 40 mates in K74 already, they have the top K ranking but appear to be no threat. In fact the biggest problem they pose is that they will make it very difficult to recruit anybody between Risharks and our core.

I am much more concerned with our limited presence in K63 and the chaotic future of that K with a number of contenders for the top spot. Already have received several reports on a singularly centripetal player it seems, one Charles the Bald Sheep. Fortunately, his mates are nowhere near him, but will have to watch this mate and his tribe.

Between ROBOT and SHEEPS (who I suspect will be the greatest threat to our quadrant) exists HEAD Hunters Inc. I am not yet sure if they are newbs or vets with incredibly inflated egos. While ~hero~ is not a real pre-made, HEAD supposedly is. But why would they scatter themselves across 4 K’s? Even SHEEPS who are obviously a text book pre-made of vets is only trying to take 3 K’s off the jump, while we take 2 and conquer a third. This tribe would do better to feed on ROBOT than us. Though they are densest where they are closest to us, they are no threat because they have spread too far. My core mates and the newbs we recruit can stop them in our area, but I would prefer they stop SHEEPS and leave us alone to take the rim.

With the rim at our backs we will be undefeatable, the goal is to take it before we border SHEEPS.

I have mailed Charles, it did not go well :P

I advised him that I would influence the cost of his food and that of any of his mates who ventured this direction, more so than anybody else. I offered to work with him and his mates, but he is an old-worlder infected by the virus that killed the old worlds (Eg0). This means that because he had not heard of me, my generous offer was in fact perceived as a grave insult since there is no way I could possibly be worth his spit, considering my first campaign was W36.

What is worse, he had a veritable TW legend start in K73 within 12 hours of my village by noble. A one on one battle would be epic, but his time is spent growing his account while my own is spent growing a tribe. Fortunately, his tribe is already set and cannot recruit many from K73 to help Kai.

While Charles has blocked me, his diplomat wants to talk every day now, which is very annoying. He is not sure what to make of us, but does not want to burn any bridges this early in the game.

ROBOT has offered to dismiss 2 dozen mates in order to make room for our entire tribe to merge with them. Their duke has offered to make me co-duke and one of his 2 barons (IcyGhost) has suggested that he expects me to take over eventually. They even offered to change their name to HERO. This would cement K74 for us, but not with more mates than I would prefer to recruit in this K, and not the right ones. This could be changed over time and being top ranked in K74 will help recruitment in K63. It will also make SHEEPS take us a little more seriously and they have already voiced their intent to one day soon declare on HEAD.

Have been skirmishing in K63 with a K63 tribe called FRM. Considering their core is K63 and ours is K74, yet we seem to have the upper hand of the skirmishes, this is not a serious threat. However, they are the only tribe near us in K63 that is showing any signs of cohesion and teamwork, so they might be somebody we want to work with in the future, if we cannot simply recruit their better mates.

TW Date 2010-08-12…

Merge with ROBOT is complete, MyCalv himself expects me to take over. Merging with and taking over a mass-recruiting tribe of newbs has obviously made other tribes reassess relations, sealed our bid for dominance in k74, filled our geographic holes, increased recruitment interest, disorganized any potential enemies close to us and has been a very smooth transition, much more so than anybody could expect. When they suggested a merge and I suggested they need to cut about 2 dozen mates while we needed to cut only 2 mates, I expected them to take offense and consider decalring on us. Instead the top ranked tribe in K74 effectively agreed to merge into the #4 tribe in K74, so let us reassess…

1. We are solid in K74.
2. SHEEPS wants an unofficial alliance, considering us the only true threat to HEAD.
3. Everybody close to us wants to be us, except HEAD.
4. Growth potential is almost unlimited and free.
5. Recruitment in K63 has become much easier.
6. FRM wants an official alliance and one day to merge into us.

Regarding HEAD, I have messaged their leadership to confirm the status of ROBOT’s preexisting relations and establish new ones. Basically, I have told them, only much more eloquently…

Their reply, basically, only much more eloquently…

We have no plans to attack you, if you do not attack us or noble into K64, but we will noble wherever we like and you should fear us, SHEEPS is no threat, but we might one day want good relations with you personally, which we should understand is not possible since we plan to noble in K74 and attack your mates in the future.

You will need to stay tuned for the next exciting chapter in “Who’s Your Hero?”

THATS ALL

I expect anthills will continue with this for me, meaning you all get to see someone elses perspective maybe once a month, maybe more frequently.

I did have someone to do the North for me, but they ran out of time, so I expect that will be fit into next month somewhere.

Anyway, thanks to anthills for writing, and you guys for reading
